Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 June 2026
EquiCalendar is a free calendar of UK equestrian competitions and events, available as a website and as an iOS app. This policy explains what data the app and website use and why. The short version: there is no account, no login, no advertising, and no third-party tracking or analytics SDKs in the iOS app. We collect as little as possible.
No account, no profile
EquiCalendar has no sign-in, no user accounts, and no user profiles. We do not ask for your name, email address, or any other identifying information to use the app. We do not build an advertising or marketing profile about you, and we do not sell or share personal data with third parties.
Location
If you choose to use the "near me" and distance features, the app asks for permission to use your location while you are using the app (When In Use). Your location is requested at a coarse, approximately kilometre-level accuracy — we do not need or use a precise fix.
When you use a distance feature, your approximate coordinates are sent once to our server, which looks up the nearest UK postcode (using the public postcodes.io service) so that events can be shown and sorted by distance. This lookup is used only to answer that request: your location is not stored, not logged against you, and not linked to any identity or profile. If you decline the location permission, the rest of the app works normally — you simply will not see distance-based sorting.
Calendar
When you tap "Add to Calendar" on an event, the app requests write-only calendar access so it can add that event to your calendar. This access only allows the app to add events — it cannot read your existing calendar entries. We never read, collect, or transmit your calendar data.
Saved events
Events you star to your Plan are stored locally on your device so they are available offline. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us.
How the app talks to our server
To show you events, the app reads from our public events API at
equicalendar.dreamfold.dev over a standard encrypted HTTPS
connection. These are ordinary requests for public event data. As with any
internet service, our server may process basic technical information (such as
IP address) transiently to deliver responses and keep the service running and
secure; we do not use this to identify or track individuals.
No advertising or third-party tracking
The iOS app contains no advertising and no third-party tracking or analytics SDKs. We do not use the device advertising identifier (IDFA).
Children
EquiCalendar is a general-audience events calendar and is not directed at children. Because it has no account and collects no personal profile, it does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
